Top 40 Campaign

Blog entry by Fiona’s Manager Toby McCartney (www.tobymccartney.com) (TKKI Music)

I want to start by saying “Thank you”. Thank you so much to everyone who is supporting Fiona, Jan and John, and thank you to those who supported our campaign to get Fiona’s single ‘Fearless’ into the charts this week, to achieve some all important ‘radio play’ and gain recognition from the top radio stations like BBC Radio 1 and 2, Capital Fm etc.

So, how did the campaign go? Well, as you may well have heard, we didn’t make it into the top 40 singles charts, but that has paled into insignificance when we look at what we have achieved over the last seven days.

On Sunday lunch time it was announced by Universal Music, our promotions contracting company, that the single ‘Fearless’ reached the number 1 slot on the UK’s official folk charts. Not only this, but the single reached number 13 on the Singer/Songwriter charts on iTunes and number 1 on the Amazon.co.uk folk charts.

The album, ‘As I Dive In’, reached number 22 on the UK’s official folk charts. The album sold out in HMV stores in Carlisle, Manchester, Leeds and London’s Oxford Street store.

Fiona, the band and the single have featured on ITV Border News, BBC Radio Cumbria, BBC Radio Lancashire and CFM Radio. Articles on the band have been written in The Cumberland News, The Observer, The News and Star (twice), Cumbria Life and Carlisle Living, as well as on blog sites, Facebook and Twitter accounts across the globe.

So what now? Well, although it has been an epic week for Fiona and the band, this is just the beginning. Within the next few weeks ‘Fearless’ will be played as part of Radio 1, Radio 2 and other national stations playlists – which means you will hear it on the major radio stations. This was one of the goals we set at the beginning of the week.

We continue to promote the album ‘As I Dive In’ and will watch as we rise up in the album charts.

We are planning a UK tour within the next few months and will be visiting the main cities across the UK as well as booking some ‘intimate’ gigs near to you.

Thank you all again for your support.

Toby McCartney
